This morning 6th grade students cheered on Excelsior firefighter Doug Foote and St. Paul firefighter Kyle Bode. They cheered as they passed Pine City Elementary school on their way to walking 150 miles from Duluth Fire to St. Paul. They are walking for MnFIRE a non-profit organization that focuses on the health and wellness of firefighters in Minnesota.

𝐖𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐢𝐬 𝐲𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐫𝐨𝐥𝐞?: BLC Para

𝐇𝐨𝐰 𝐦𝐚𝐧𝐲 𝐲𝐞𝐚𝐫𝐬 𝐡𝐚𝐯𝐞 𝐲𝐨𝐮 𝐛𝐞𝐞𝐧 𝐚 𝐃𝐫𝐚𝐠𝐨𝐧?: ⁣I first became a Dragon 2006 when my oldest played Hoops with the Dragons. Fall of 2007 my 4 oldest started school in Pine. Since then all 5 of my crew graduated from PIne City. About 6 yrs ago I began subbing as a para and last fall I joined the team full time, after lots of encouragement from some amazing coworkers! So I think that puts me at about 19 years.

𝐖𝐡𝐲 𝐝𝐨 𝐲𝐨𝐮 𝐥𝐨𝐯𝐞 𝐛𝐞𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐚 𝐃𝐫𝐚𝐠𝐨𝐧?: I love making connections with both the staff and students. The people I work with genuinely want to see the kids succeed and watching a student's confidence grow when we all work together to achieve their goals is what helped convince me to go full time.

𝐅𝐮𝐧 𝐅𝐚𝐜𝐭 𝐚𝐛𝐨𝐮𝐭 𝐲𝐨𝐮𝐫𝐬𝐞𝐥𝐟: I am a mom of 5, grandma of 2, soon to be 3, and I have lived in Germany twice, 2 sisters were born there too!

𝐖𝐡𝐲 𝐝𝐨 𝐲𝐨𝐮 𝐥𝐨𝐯𝐞 𝐛𝐞𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐚 𝐃𝐫𝐚𝐠𝐨𝐧?: I love the school spirit that comes with being a Pine City Dragon and how everyone shows their pride in being a dragon. ⁣
