Pine City Public Schools has partnered with Pine County Public Health to host a special public presentation aimed at teaching youth and adults about how to safely use technology, social media and gaming platforms in an increasingly digital-focused society.
The presentation blends research, real-world examples, and practical tools to help families and communities recognize risks and strengthen online safety. Special focus is placed on supporting parents and caregivers with age-appropriate strategies to talk with children about digital safety, set healthy boundaries and recognize early warning signs of exploitation.
Community-wide participation is encouraged. Parents and caregivers, educators, youth-serving professionals, community leaders, law enforcement, social workers and those working with survivors of exploitation will find value in attending this event. Parents are encouraged to bring their teens ages 12+ to this event.
The event begins at 6:30 PM in the lobby of the High School Auditorium where attendees will enjoy a free pizza dinner from the Pizza Pub of Pine City, plus sweet treats provided by the Pine Area Lions. A number of resource tables will be on site as well during this time.
The presentation will begin at 7PM in the Auditorium featuring a presentation from Taylor Wencel. There will be an opportunity for Q&A following the presentation with attendees able to submit their questions.
Thanks to a great partnership between the Pine City School District, Public Health and Community groups we had a great turnout for this valuable resource. Thanks to Taylor Wencel, our presenter, a recording was made of the presentation for those that were unable to attend in person.
A full recording of this session was done and is available HERE.
